(Outreach in Mowanjum Aboriginal Community)
Derby Family Violence Service (DFVS) aims to increase safety for all members of the Kimberley community and to strengthen an understanding on the part of communities that family violence Is not acceptable.
It recognises that women and children are predominantly the victims of family violence. This program will work collaboratively with individuals and communities to reduce the extent of family violence in the Kimberley region.
DFVS is being provided in partnership with the Emama Nguda Aboriginal Corporation (ENAC).
Anglicare WA and ENAC will work closely together with the aim of building community and workforce capacity in the Derby region to enable the local Aboriginal communities to own, participate in, inform and address family violence issues occurring.
Two central hubs at Anglicare WA and ENAC’s existing offices in the Derby town site to enable women and men to have separate spaces to gather and receive services.
From these hubs, staff will conduct outreach into the local community to connect with clients in the places they traditionally gather to ensure awareness and accessibility to the service.
