Service Details

SCALES is a community legal centre providing free legal and non-legal services to people living in the south coastal metropolitan region.

SCALES provides free legal advice, information and representation to low-income people living in the Kwinana and Rockingham areas and deals with clients predominantly in the following areas: family and domestic violence; family law; criminal law; tenancy for public, community and private tenants; immigration and refugee law; Centrelink; criminal injuries compensation; fines and fines enforcement and traffic matters.

SCALES has a specialist Family Violence Unit (FVU) providing intensive, trauma informed, culturally safe, legal and non-legal assistance targeting the most vulnerable and at-risk women affected by family and domestic violence.
Holistic legal services include advice, information and referral, advocacy and representation through a case management model with the multi-disciplinary team comprising solicitors, counsellor, client advocate, financial counsellor as well as those of the broader legal service including tenancy, migration and criminal matters.
