The Empower Her Luncheon is an annual event in its second year, created to raise awareness about gender-based violence and drive positive cultural change in the Broome community. It brings together people from all walks of life to share stories of lived experiences, including victims, first responders, and supporters. The luncheon highlights the different forms of family and domestic violence – emotional, financial, physical, and sexual – and stresses that it can affect anyone, regardless of gender. By fostering open discussions and offering networking opportunities, this event encourages attendees to find the confidence and voice to support those affected. In addition to raising awareness, the luncheon also holds raffles to generate funds, which are donated to local women’s refuges.
