Supporting those working in the Domestic & Family Violence Sector

The core objective of the Centre for Women’s Safety and Wellbeing is to ensure that services in the family and domestic violence sector are equipped with the relevant skills and knowledge to provide effective responses to victim-survivors of domestic and family violence.

Our practice support is designed to enable domestic and family violence workers to:

understand domestic and family violence and its impact
engage safely with those accessing services
identify and assess domestic and family violence risk
manage risk and prioritisesafety
provide safe and appropriate support and services.

Communities of Practice

The purpose of a Community of Practice Group is for people with a shared practice to get together to collaborate, share, develop knowledge, improve practice and explore ways to implement evidence-based practice.

Domestic and Family Violence Advocacy and Outreach Specialists

This group is for those working in a service that is not a refuge but is funded to provide services and support to victim-survivors of domestic and family violence, such as advocacy, outreach services and Safe-at-Home programs. The group includes front-line staff, coordinators and managers.

Domestic and Family Violence Refuge Specialists

This group is specifically for those working in women’s refuge services. The group consists of front-line staff, coordinators and managers.

Domestic and Family Violence Children's Specialists

This group is for those whose primary role is to work with children who are victim-survivors of domestic and family violence. This group is comprised of front-line staff.

Domestic and Family Violence Counsellors

This group is for domestic and family violence counsellors whose primary role is to provide counselling to women and/.or children who are victim-survivors of domestic and family violence.

Domestic and Family Violence Counsellors

This group is for domestic and family violence counsellors whose primary role is to provide counselling to women and/.or children who are victim-survivors of domestic and family violence.
