The Centre for Women’s Safety and Wellbeing welcomes the McGowan Government’s investment in community-based women’s health services in the State Budget. Investment in women’s community health services will improve access to services and programs that best meet the needs of vulnerable women in the community and work within the social model of health. The investment will contribute to improving the health, wellbeing and safety of vulnerable women in our community.
The initiatives include funding to:
- Establish a women’s community health service in the Kimberley that includes services for family, domestic and sexual violence, and women’s mental health.
- Establish a women’s community health service in the Peel region that includes health and support services and information for those experiencing mental illness, family, domestic and sexual violence or who have experienced sexual assault or childhood sexual abuse.
- Establish a women’s community health service in the South East Metropolitan Area that will be a culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) specific service.
- Employ a permanent GP for primary health services at the Goldfields Women’s Health Care Centre.
- Pilot a 12-month program delivered by Karratha's Women's Place Inc. to provide health and support services and information to women experiencing mental illness, domestic and sexual violence or who have experienced sexual assault or childhood sexual abuse.
